The greatest wealth is health. -Virgil |
I am profoundly grateful to survive the flu and pneumonia because some people in the hospital with me didn’t.
Being ill has forced me to slow down and not think much. And that’s a good thing. I over-think everything. There have been some sleepless nights that encourage contemplation and my brain is just not ready to make sense of any thing. And why should it? It has been in the hospital too.
What this illness has made me do is appreciate the little things. Yesterday I took a hot bath. Oh the joy. Ida Mom has cooked for me one meal after another and it tastes like real food. Oh the nurturing that comes without words.
My new kitten missed me and has been trying to help me heal with kitty kisses and sleeping on the covers with me. He is such a pill. He wrecks the house when he can and bothers my old kitty who just wants to be left alone. But when he climbs into my arms and looks at me with those big eyes, I can forgive him anything.
And to Rod Tanner. You know what you’ve done and I am forever in your debt.
